MDS 2

As I mentioned two posts ago, my daughter and I had a bucket list that we made during our trips to Chicago of things we wanted to do when she quit skating. Archery was at the top of the list, so we did that first. My husband is a sweet, sweet man who encourages us to do whatever we think of to do. When we told him about our bucket list, he told us to go buy bows, arrows, and targets- that day! And we did! :)

We had no idea that archery was going to be so much fun! If you haven't tried it yet, you owe it to yourself to at least try it!

Being a scrapper, you know I document EVERYTHING in our lives, lol! I made this double page layout of my daughter in her cute camo hat that she found at Bass Pro :).

Left side page
Right side of page

Side by side
Haha! By the way, her shirt says, 'Armed and Dangerous', but there is a scripture quotation under that :D. I just thought it was funny that she was wearing that shirt when I took these photos of her.

I made these pages in MDS 2. Love this digital scrapping software so much! It's so easy to get your scrapping caught up and no mess to clean up!

Blessings to you!

Digital Christmas Lodge :)

I'll be posting a card later, but in the meantime, I was playing in My Digital Studio :). I often like to design my cards first in My Digital Studio... A) there is no waste of real paper, B) it's easy to remove or add elements, C) you can see how it will look before you ever cut into any paper. For my card below I used the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Digital Paper (we can print out as much as we want on our printers) and the Christmas Lodge digital stamp set.

I love the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper- the real paper, that is! I also love it in digital format and am soooooo happy that when it retires from the mini, I can still have as much as I need by printing it out :D.

I'll be back later after I get some pictures!

Blessings!

Valentine Medallion

We got over a foot of snow a couple of days ago here. and, it was snowing earlier. We might get another 1-2" again today. I like snow, but within reason, lol! Our very nice neighbor was kind enough to plow our drive for us when we got the foot of snow. I shoveled a path to the hen house this morning and I'm pretty sore. The hen house is a little ways from the house so I have to shovel a long path. After I post this I'm going to jump into a hot shower and see if that helps ease the muscles :). In the meantime, here's a card made with the Medallion stamp.

I used a card sketch from the December 2010 Card Maps on Page Maps. I hope you are all staying warm as toast and that you don't have to shovel snow. Have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Blessings!

Winter Layout

I absolutely LOVE winter on the farm!! Our snow always stays white and pretty and the scenery is breathtaking. Whenever we get a good amount of snow, I try to get out and get photos. That's one of the things I love about photography- you have a visual image for as long as your photo lasts :).
The top photo on my page is a picture of my husband's favorite tree. He thinks it's the coolest tree on the whole farm...and we have a LOT of trees around here! The bottom photos are the same post, just from different angles. I really like the way posts look with snow on top of them :).

I wanted to thank everyone again who left such caring comments about the loss of our kitty Lucky. We are still adjusting to him being gone. I am so very thankful for the power of a camera. Our camera's preserve our most precious memories for us. It was really odd that day that Lucky was so cooperative with my camera. I remember thinking that at least I would have some great photos of him for when he got old and it was his time to go. I had no idea that day that his time would be just a few months later, but maybe he knew and that was why he was so cooperative. I plan to do some layouts of Lucky, but it's just soon yet for me.

I hope you are all having an amazing week so far! We have gotten more snow- as much as in my photos above, so this will be our second official snow of this winter :D.

Blessings!!!

Valentine Card

While waiting for my daughter at the rink, I've been working in My Digital Studio. I made a digital card with one of the new Designer Series Paper downloads. This digital paper matches the paper in the Occasions Mini Catalog. I used a card sketch too, but I can't remember where I found the card sketch!
I hope you are all having a wonderful day and that 2011 has started filled with blessings for you!

Merry Christmas!!

I will be missing from my blog for a few days. My daughter and I are sick- again :-(. Apparently, we caught this from her coach- who is also sick- again. He was sick a couple of weeks ago and so were we. He thought he was over it and we thought we were over it. My daughter and I started off with scratchy throats last night and this morning- ick- sick! Another reason I will be missing from my blog is because I have soooooo much to do in the next three days. I don't even want to look at my to do list at this point, although mentally, that big list keeps playing over and over in my mind. Hopefully, I get it all done. I will be doing it whether I feel icky or not, so I hope I feel better tomorrow! In the meantime, I wanted to take a minute to thank all of you for visiting my blog this year. I have appreciated your visits so very much and all of your comments have made my day each time :-). I have also appreciated your patience when I have been so busy I haven't had time to see the walls of my stamping room, let alone keep my blog updated. So, for all of you, I am posting a Christmas card that I made just for my blog visitors. I wish each and every one of you the most blessed, joyous, and most memorable Christmas of all.
I will see you after Christmas!!! I plan to LOCK MYSELF in my stamping room the day after Christmas for the whole day, so I should have some stuff to post next week! Merry Christmas my friends!!!

Hugs and Blessings to you!

Peace, Love, & Joy

Another Christmas card done in My Digital Studio :-). I've been sick for two days- so didn't have time to get photos yet :-(. Should be able to by tomorrow, as long as I don't get to feeling bad again. So far, I'm feeling not so bad, but not so good. Even though this card was done in My Digital Studio, Stampin' Up! has these papers and other embellishments in 'real' stuff, so it can be made for real :-D.

Hopefully, I will be able to hold out the rest of the day without having to go back to bed. I hope everyone is having a really great day today!!!

Another Digital Card

Okay, so I found more than one card sketch from the December Card Maps by Page Maps that I LOVED :-D. Don't you love this sketch?!!! To make the top part of the card in My Digital Studio, I simply added two circle punches, made them bigger, set them side by side, and filled them with Deck the Halls Designer Series Digital Paper. I used the Cherry Cobbler digital Seam Binding Ribbon as my ribbon choice. Easy Peasy and took about two minutes. Now I have to make it from the real paper :-D.

Have a wonderful day today!!!!! Oh by the way, I did get my husband's business Christmas cards done in ONE night- used a really simple design, got them addressed and mailed the next day. Scratching stuff off the Christmas to-do list is awesome :-D.

Blessings!!

Deck the Halls

The Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper is so rich- ya' gotta love it! My card below is made in My Digital Studio using the very same DIGITAL paper :-D. Cool, huh? That's one of the things that I LOVE about My Digital Studio- I get to keep these wonderful DSP's 4ever :). Another great feature of My Digital Studio is that I can design my cards before I ever cut into my DSP.

I used a December Card Map from Page Maps to make this card. I love this sketch! I also shrunk the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon (another digital download) to fit the card sketch better. You can't do that with the real ribbon :D !!! My good friend Donna just purchased My Digital Studio- see what ya' have to look forward to Donna? You are gonna have a LOT of fun!! ;-D

I'm looking forward to doing some digital scrapping with my Christmas photos this year in My Digital Studio using this DSP. Can't wait!!! Have a wonderful day today!!!!!

New My Digital Studio Downloads

Since time is scare around my house, I was so happy to see some new digital downloads this morning for My Digital Studio! I made a quick card with my new additions :D.

I hope this card shows up against the background of my blog. I used Very Vanilla for the snow and a paper from the new Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper download. I also used some images from the new Holly and Jolly Embellishments. I did this card in less than one minute- how is that for fast?! :D

I have some projects that I need to photograph and as soon as I get that done I will be posting to my blog. Sigh- I really miss posting here and I really miss working in my stamping room. Have a great day everyone and thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cheer Scrapbook Page

All right, I'm trying to be a good little blogger by actually getting something posted :D. There are new digital downloads available for My Digital Studio and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Christmas Cheer kit!! I've used the Simply Scrappin' Christmas Cheer kit in real life and I LOVE the Designer Series Papers and the colors used in this kit. I was so happy to see it available as a digital download! Now, I never have to worry about running out of the papers that I love so much :). I love the papers so much that I couldn't wait to play with them in My Digital Studio, so I used one of the November 2010 Page Maps sketches to create a digital scrapbook page this morning :). I am so behind on scrapping Christmas photos it isn't even funny! I think I'm just going to start scrapping them in My Digital Studio and then have books printed out for us and a copy for each of our children. We have four girls and two boys so it will be so much easier to just scrap one book and make copies, lol! Ya' gotta love the digital age :D.

I started work yesterday on the projects for my stampers to do at our next stampin' night, so you probably won't see that stuff for a while ;-). My scrap room is a tea total wreck from all the sewing I did in there getting ready for my daughter's Meet, so I have to get it straightened up today so I can really get down to work. I had to take time out to play with the new Christmas Cheer digital kit first though ;-). I know you understand, lol!!! Hopefully, I can get my mess cleaned up pretty quickly today so I have some time to do some creating this afternoon. My daughter and I are having 'girl's night out' with a friend of ours this evening, so it will be late before we get back! Have a great day today!!!

Triple the Sketch

I used the very first sketch from the Triple the Sketch site for my MDS (My Digital Studio) projects. You can pick a sketch and use it to create page layouts, cards, and tags- all from one sketch. I {heart} the sketches on Triple the Sketch :). For my first sketch project, I made a 6x6 card using Dusty Durango (yeah for My Digital Studio and all the fabulous retired colors we still have access to :D ! ), Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, and Daffodil Delight. My sentiment is done in Cajun Craze.
For my second project, I made a digital scrapbook page of our kitty Dooberoo, who, after a hard day of crafting with me, passed out on top of my card stock scraps file box :). I used Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz Designer Series Papers; Cajun Craze, Whisper White, and Pear Pizzazz for the rest of the components on the page.

It was a lot of fun using the same sketch for two different types of projects. I may have to try a tag with this sketch :D. Wishing you all a wonderful day today!!

Returning Home

My son in law returned home safely from Iraq earlier this year- thank God. I really, really LOVE this photo of my daughter and her husband. If a photo is worth a thousand words, than this one is so much more. This was their first embrace when he got off the bus that brought the soldiers from the plane straight to the field where the families were waiting. I think they were happy to finally be reunited :). I know that our entire family waited anxiously for news that our soldiers had gotten safely home and that we each rejoiced when we got the text that said they landed safely. I wish we could have all been there for the happy reunion, but my daughter and her husband are based in another state. We are so fortunate though, that John's mom was there to snap this incredible photo. I love the flag in my daughter's hand as she welcomes her husband home :).

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!! Blessings to you!

New MDS Downloads

I downloaded the FREE In Color updates this morning for My Digital Studio and decided to play with some new digital DSP and digital card stock while I was downloading the rest of the updates :). I used Very Vanilla and Cajun Craze. If you miss Really Rust since the color renovation, Cajun Craze is a great replacement. Even if you have left over Really Rust DSP, you can use it with Cajun Craze and it looks fabulous :). So this is what I came up while I was waiting for the downloads to finish up....

I wish I had had some time to get back to my stamping room this last week, but I had some things to catch up on. Maybe I'll get some time to get back there this weekend (keeping fingers crossed). I hope you all had a wonderful week and that your weekend is the best!

Owl Punch/MDS

I didn't get a chance to get into my stamping room yesterday :-(, but I did make a card in My Digital Studio :-). I don't actually own the owl punch YET, but I totally plan to get him cause' he is sooooo stinkin' cute!!! I do, however, own the digital owl punch for My Digital Studio, so I still get to play with him- hoot hoot hooray!! And here he is...............

I am so going to make this card for real when I get this adorable owl punch! Just so ya' know, the left wing is not part of the owl punch, but is actually the wing from the Two Step Bird punch- here on this card as a digital punch, but I own the 'real' punch :-D. I LOVE My Digital Studio for designing cards and scrapbook pages before I ever cut into my paper. It's so easy to change out papers, embellishments, stamps, punches (all digital of course) until you like what you see. MDS will also give you the measurements, so you can go create the card exactly as you designed it in MDS. How cool is that?!!! I hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend!!!!!

Thinking of You in Blue :-D

I made this card in My Digital Studio first :-). I love MDS for designing cards before I even touch my paper. I know ahead of time exactly how it will look. It also gives me the measurements I need as I design. Cool, huh? Designing in MDS also cuts down on paper mistakes so less waste :-). In MDS, what you see is what you get. The punches and the stamps are all sized in real life size so you know if your stamp or punch will fit your design area. You can also re-size them though, if you'd like an element bigger or smaller. In my MDS sketch, I used So Saffron textured card stock, but when I made my actual card, I chose to use the Square Lattice embossing folder instead.

I chose a Bashful Blue mat for the inside of my card so it would match the colors of my card front. I also inked the edges of my Whisper White card stock with So Saffron to bring the yellow into the inside as well. The cute little butterfly body stamp is from the Level Two hostess set in the Summer Mini- Punched Posies. I'm looking forward to playing with this set more- it's awesome! The butterfly wings are punched out with the Butterfly punch and then I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig (love that tool!!!!) to stamp the little body on top. Easy Peasy!

That's my card for today :-). I hope you have a wonderful day today! Check back on Sunday for the Sunday Sketch :-).

Blessings!

My Digital Studio Bookmarks

Before my hubby got me 'My Digital Studio' for my birthday, I saw a post on 'Stampin' Connection' (a Stampin' Up! forum for demonstrators), and the demonstrator made bookmarks with her own photos in MDS (My Digital Studio). They were so pretty, I knew that I would want to make my own when I finally got MDS :-). I took some time over the weekend to create my bookmarks. It was so easy! I printed mine out on photo paper, mounted them on card stock, and then heat laminated them. I like my bookmarks to be sturdy and protected so I don't have to worry about them getting messed up- hence the little bit of glare you see in my photos :-).

I used all of my own photos on these bookmarks and my two favorite bookmarks are the last two. These two scriptures are really speaking to me right now :-), but I also love that my photos fit these last two scriptures so perfectly. You can print out five bookmarks on one 8.5 x 11 sheet of photo paper or Whisper White/Very Vanilla card stock. I'm going to make several sets for little 'send- in- the- mail' gifts ;-). If you would like to try this, you can find the tutorial for them at Kitty Stamp by Betty Traciak. So many possibilities for custom bookmarks! Wouldn't it be awesome to make photo bookmarks of the grandkids for grandparents who read? Wishing you all a wonderful day today. Thanks for stopping to visit! See you tomorrow!

I LOVE my new blog background! I think it looks so cheery and it makes me smile :-). I made it in My Digital Studio by following Debbi's wonderful instructions! It wasn't hard at all and I'm looking forward to changing out my blog whenever I want to ;-). I'll be posting in the morning, so see you then!

Sunday Sketch

I've been missing in action since Monday. Absolutely no inspiration whatsoever :-(. I hate when that happens. Usually I fret over it though, but this time I just went with the flow and relaxed. I played with my new camera that my hubby got me and so far I love it. We had so much rain right after I got it that I really didn't have much chance to play with it. I got some good shots of one of our kitties. He NEVER, EVER stays still long enough for me to photograph him. For some reason one morning, he seemed to be curious as to what I was doing when I was photographing my sleeping daughter. She just looked so sweet, I couldn't pass that up :-). I took a couple of photos of Lucky after I was done, getting down on the floor to his level. He must have been really impressed with my efforts because he actually got down and posed for me, lol!... well, as close as a cat can get to posing anyway. I didn't want to lose a very rare opportunity to get some good photos of him so I clicked away. I also took a few sunset photos, but the jury is still out on that venture, lol! I went four wheeling with my husband through the west pasture and that was really fun. Of course, I brought my new camera with me. I have explored the west pasture enough to know that I should ALWAYS bring my camera with me. I did get a couple of awesome shots of the tall grass- that I love, and some shots of a flower that was growing out there all by its lonesome self. With all the green out in the pasture, its pink color really stood out. I used my super macro mode for that and got in really close. I photographed my horse too. She was up near the fence in the west pasture so I tried out different positions to photograph her. I got some decent shots of her too- which is also hard because inevitably, whenever I do photograph her- she makes a goofy face or swishes her tail at the wrong moment (sigh). I was happy with the way her photos came out- at least most of them. One shot of her is such a great shot, but came out just a titch blurry. I am keeping that photo though! I also did some photos for my husband for the website I am working on for him. Oh, that is another thing I have been doing all week- working on a website for his business.

I also did some scrapping this week. I have been taking 'My Digital Studio' certification classes offered by Stampin' Up! and I am done with all the classes and quizzes, but I have to turn in a project to complete the course. I was working on a book for my daughter with photos from her first skating competition where she took third place in Loops- not bad for the first time out ;-). I had about 10 pages completed, working on it off and on as I had time- 49 pages later and it is now finished. I just need to send it to the printer this week and have it printed for her. Then I started a book for my grandson. He was here for the whole day early in April when he was off from school and we decided to take a walk and explore the west pasture. I discovered that day, that taking nature walks with boys is a whole lot different than taking nature walks with girls. Girls love to look at flowers, birds, and butterflies. Boys, on the other hand, love to find turtles and frogs in ponds, sticks are awesome discoveries, and the coyote tracks- now that is something to look at! I had such a fun time that day, exploring with my eight year old grandson and seeing things from his perspective. Yeah, you know I had my camera with me ;-), so I have lots of photos from that day. The best part, at least for him, was waiting at the back step when we got home. We were very careful to watch out for snakes on our walk, checking over logs before we crossed, etc. Not one single snake did we see. Got home and not three feet from the back step was a huge one! I had no idea what kind of snake it was so had no idea if it was poisonous or not, but it was so cool looking I had to take some photos of it. In the meantime, I sent my grandson to the front of the house so he could go into the house and he found a small garden snake on the front porch. He proceeds to go around the side to the back of the house in hopes of getting in through the other back door. In the side yard, he finds a big black snake! When I was done taking photos of the snake in the back, I walked around to the front to find him standing in the middle of the yard with a slightly distressed look on his face. I asked him why he didn't go into the house and he said, "Grandma, there was a snake on the porch so I went that way and there was a really big one over there!!!" Every once in a while a harmless snake will come near the house, but not often at all. That day though, I am sure my grandson thought he had come to the reptile house at the zoo! His observation was, "Grandma, isn't it funny that we took a walk in the pasture and never saw any snakes, but when we got home we saw three of them right at the house?!" His very favorite photo of our walk that day was that big snake at the back step- he is such a boy, lol! We got online to find out what kind of snake it was. Thankfully, it was a harmless snake. So I printed out some photos of that snake for him and wrote the name of the snake on the back so he would always know what kind of snake it was. Honestly, I will have to ask him what kind of snake that was because I don't remember, lol! And I will not post photos of it on my blog either ;-). I'm sure most of you will appreciate that- Lol! In the book I am working on for him, I am journaling about our walk that day and how much fun it was for me too. I'll have it sent to the printer- photos of that snake included- and give it to him so he can have a little keepsake from that day.

So that is what I was doing all week. I really had a great time relaxing and being creative outside of paper. But on Friday, I was starting to miss my paper, so today I am going to play with my paper and some new stamps :-D. I made up another card sketch for you to try. If you do, I would really love it if you would link your card to Mr. Linky below so I can see it too :-D. Mr. Linky is easy to use. Just click on it and add your name in one box and your URL to the card in the other box. Be sure to use the URL for only your card though, otherwise everyone will have to look for it if you post anything else on your blog afterwards :-). Oh, and one more thing- you need to use Regal Rose, Whisper White, Old Olive, and So Saffron on your card- AND stamp your sentiment across the bottom more than once.

If you are traveling over the weekend- have a safe trip and have a fun time! Have a great day today!!

Blessings!

Card Sketch 1

I am getting ready for a class this evening, so I am adding my rendition of the Card Sketch in the post below, done in My Digital Studio :-). I can make this card in real paper because I actually own all the items I used on my card, and I will most likely do that- just not today, lol!

I used the following elements in My Digital Studio- So Saffron textured card stock and stamp, Certainly Celery ribbon, brads, card stock, and stamp, Bashful Blue Designer Series Paper, Pacific Point for the sentiment, and the stamp sets used are Cheep Talk and Circle Circus. One of the great things about My Digital Studio is that you can audition various colors and papers BEFORE you actually make your card! So you know exactly what it will look like when you're done. How cool is that?! Okay, I gotta get back to work :-(. Have a wonderful day today!!!
