Make the Cut is for designing your own files to cut on the eclips. I have ecal software, but I prefer Make the Cut and Inkscape for designing my files. For the card base I used Gumball Green. The Designer Series Paper is from the Festival of Prints stack in the Holiday catalog. Once again I used the <i>Scentsational Season</i> stamp set along with the <i>Holiday Collection</i> Framelits, also found in the Holiday catalog. I had a sliver of a Very Vanilla cut from the Top Note die that I had used on another project, so I used it for the snow on my card front. A little Dazzling Details glitter on the snow and a star die cut from So Saffron, finish out the details. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!<br />

Back to Autumn!Everyone has been working on Christmas cards and I have been too, but this one I made last month, so thought I would go ahead and post it anyway :). I used More Mustard as my card base, layered with Soft Suede and I used some torn paper bag. Old Olive used for the acorn, More Mustard and Cajun Craze for the leaves. The leaves and the acorn were die cut with the new Autumn Accents Bigz die in the Holiday catalog. The sentiment is from a retired stamp set. Inks used to edge the elements were Garden Green, Old Olive, Cajun Craze, and Soft Suede. Have a great day!!!<br />

My 'first' card book that I made :). This one uses Old Olive, Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, and More Mustard card stock. The Designer Series Papers are from the Festival of Prints stack, all by Stampin' Up! The Christmas Tree is from the Scentsational Season bundle (Stampin' Up!) which includes the Scentsational Season stamp set and the Holiday Collection Framelits dies. The stars on the left side were punched with the small star punch (retired). The inks I used to edge some of the elements are Cajun Craze, Garden Green, and Soft Suede. The embossing folder I used was Northern Flurry for the snowflakes on the front cover.</div>

I added a pocket to the inside cover that's perfect for a tag or to hold a gift card. Add a gift card in the pocket and fill the inside pages of the book with some chocolate and you have a <i>sweeeet</i> little gift for someone! The sentiment on the inside is from Merry Messages (Stampin' Up!- retired). Thanks for stopping by!</div>

I loved the book and wanted to make my own, so I really appreciate the link she sent me! I changed the measurements from metric to our measurements, but followed the rest of her instructions and it was quite easy to put together. This is my second card book that I made. I'll post the first one tomorrow. I know, backwards :).<br />
<br />
Back in May, my husband bought me a <i>Sizzix eclips</i>... love, love, love my eclips! This little gingerman and lollipops are cutting files from<i> Designs on Cloud 9</i>. She has the cutest files ever! Of course, I used Stampin' Up! papers, card stock, and inks :). The gingerman is cut from Close to Cocoa (retired- boo hoo hoo!). I used Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Island Indigo, and Pink Pirouette card stock along with Festival of Prints DSP. The edges are inked with Early Espresso and Crumb Cake. The snow is inked with Island Indigo.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

When you open the card it looks like a book inside! How cool is that?! The little peppermints at the corners of the book pages is a Stampin' Up! set and also the sentiment inside the book. I used Stampin' Up's! small Heart punch as well. There is plenty of space inside the pages for treats or a little gift. The inside pages measure the same as an A2 card base- 4.25 x 5.5 inches.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN8g3bz-oHOtC4bNmvq9rIMpYxuUMOUiWbpx1QMzJWMmnV5ZN_caGgFP1FjHAmtsQi2FwN349RFyOWFAjzAIrO_m6-mAg_HsH4xa5tQEwwIr86ciwpUFmdfZazQ95DpQeuif8RkwPshss6/s1600/008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN8g3bz-oHOtC4bNmvq9rIMpYxuUMOUiWbpx1QMzJWMmnV5ZN_caGgFP1FjHAmtsQi2FwN349RFyOWFAjzAIrO_m6-mAg_HsH4xa5tQEwwIr86ciwpUFmdfZazQ95DpQeuif8RkwPshss6/s400/008.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
A side view of the card book. You can see, in this photo, how it looks like the real pages in a book. So nifty :) ! Love it!<br />

Archery was at the top of the list, so we did that first. My husband is a sweet, sweet man who encourages us to do whatever we think of to do. When we told him about our bucket list, he told us to go buy bows, arrows, and targets- that day! And we did! :)<br />
<br />
We had no idea that archery was going to be so much fun! If you haven't tried it yet, you owe it to yourself to at least try it!<br />
<br />
Being a scrapper, you know I document EVERYTHING in our lives, lol! I made this double page layout of my daughter in her cute camo hat that she found at Bass Pro :).<br />

Thank you so much for all the welcome backs! Really made my day :) !</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made another paper bag album after we got back from Nationals for a young 15 year old girl who is a friend of a family that we go to church with. Sadly, her momma passed away from breast cancer, leaving three children and a husband :'(. I wanted to make her something that she could put photos of her mom in and write special memories that she shared with her. Even though she's a teenager right now, it won't be many more years before she is grown, so I made this album with an older girl in mind. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This wasn't completely made with Stampin' Up supplies. I used K&Company paper, all Stampin' Up! card stock and inks, and some Stampin' Up! dies, plus, I made few elements on my Sizzix eclips. The paint for the cover is Martha Stewart and the ribbon is... I have no idea :D. It's 1/2" double faced satin though.</div>

<span style="font-size: small;">There are a total of eight pages, 17 pockets with inserts, and several smaller tags throughout the album. This album will hold up to (40) 4x6 photos. I also added a few small die cut envelopes for her to put little keepsakes into and several journaling blocks. With the album, I gave her a zip lock bag filled with additional die cuts, journaling blocks, tags, etc., and some adhesive. It was really nice to be able to use some of my stuff to bless someone and help them along in their journey of healing. I'm hoping I will get to see the finished album after she gets all her photos into it, but it's okay if I don't. It's her special place for keeping special memories of her momma in and I hope that it will be a blessing to her for many years to come. </span></div>

As most of you who have been regular visitors to my blog already know, my daughter spent the last three years in competitive roller figure skating. The first year was spent learning and training and the last two years were a whirlwind of travel all across the country, competing from Meet to Meet. Not only did we travel to Meets at least once each month (sometimes more), but we also traveled to Chicago once or twice a month for training with two World Class coaches. My daughter and I were home for a total of five days in July. The rest of the month was spent in Chicago training. In between all that traveling and out of state training, we were at the rink practicing for many hours each week. Needless to say, our lives consisted of skating, Meets, practice, training, and more skating! There was hardly time for anything else. Literally.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My daughter made a decision to stop skating after Nationals was over this year. It was not a decision that she made lightly or quickly, but I know it was the right decision for her. You see, she was the victim of bullies/mean girls who were also members of the artistic roller skating team, for the entire three years that she skated. It wasn't just one or two girls, it was the entire team of girls. We are very proud of her because through it all, she stayed strong and she never retaliated, but always treated them with kindness. Her decision was partly due to the fact that she was really tired of the bullying, even though skating and competing was her passion, and because she wanted to do other things that she never had time to do. She goes to a GREAT youth group with a great group of kids and she had to miss out on a lot of fun things because she either had to practice or we were out of town for Meets and/or training. She also wanted to be able to be more involved in church and ministry. She is now greatly involved in church and ministry, able to do fun things with the kids in her youth group, and is quite happy. A 'day' after we returned from Nationals, she hit ministry running and hasn't stopped since! In so many, many ways, quitting skating has been a tremendous blessing.<br />
<br />
Since we knew that she was going to stop skating after Nationals was over, during our trips to Chicago, we were concerned that 'life after skating' might be a big adjustment for us. We decided to make a list of things that we always wanted to do, but never had the time to do because of skating. THAT was a great idea because after skating was over, it <b><u>was</u></b> a HUGE adjustment for us! We started to work on our Bucket List that we made in Chicago and had so much fun! At the top of our list was to learn how to shoot with bows and arrows. We got bows, we got arrows, we got targets (hanging in our back yard), and we learned how to shoot them. My daughter is becoming quite accurate :). Next on our list was learn to shoot guns. My husband taught us how to shoot his rifle and then she and I took a private class at a local target range with a professional. Our days have been full with church, archery, shooting at ranges, home school, and a lot of other things that we never had the time to do :).<br />
<br />
I am just now starting to feel motivated to spend some time in my scrapping/sewing/crafting room. My husband got me a Sizzix eclips for my birthday in May and I am just now getting to play with it. Love that machine! It cuts Stampin' Up! card stock like 'buttah'! I have done a couple of little things since we quit skating, but mostly have been just enjoying doing other things with my daughter. I don't know how often I'll be posting on my blog. I guess that depends on how much motivation and inspiration I have :). I only have evenings for creating, since we home school, and that takes up a good portion of my time. But, as mentioned, I do have a couple of things that I worked on, so I'll start with those.<br />
<br />
First up, is a lay out I made with one of my favorite photos from a shoot I did with my daughter and my granddaughter. My granddaughter wanted to dress up as princesses that day and she has a wonderful aunt who agreed to dress up with her :). This lay out was done completely in My Digital Studio Two.<br />

If you're still out there, thanks for hanging with me this long. I s<i>oooo</i> appreciate those of you who have taken the time to write to me and who have taken the time to leave such sweet comments. Thank you! As I mentioned, I can't promise how often I will be able to post, but my motivation is starting to come back, so we shall see :).<br />

<br />
I've decided to take some time off blogging for various reasons, but mostly because I needed to devote more time elsewhere in my life. I am happy to report that the time spent elsewhere has been time well worth spending and is paying off in big time rewards for my family and myself. I'm sure I will be back, but I don't think it will happen before Summer's end. There are seasons in life, a time for every purpose under heaven, and this season of not blogging has been a very good decision for me.<br />
<br />
Just wanted to update you if you still visit my blog every now and again, and to thank you for still coming! If you add your email to the updates on the right sidebar, you will be notified when I start blogging again. I just didn't want you to keep coming back for the rest of the summer and not finding anything newly posted. Thanks so much for visiting my blog, even when I haven't been!<br />
<br />
Blessings!<br />

The new catalog goes live! I've updated the catalog links in the right sidebar to the new catalogs for you. Lots of great new products, new In Colors, and new ink pads! The ink pads have been changed from cloth pads to <b>firm foam</b> pads. The cases remain the same :). I've tried the new ink pads and you will be very happy with the ink coverage on your rubber stamps.<br />
<br />
Look over the new catalog and get ready to make a long wish list! Before you know it, the Holiday Mini will be here :). Have a wonderful day!<br />

Blessings!<br />

<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">Have ya' wondered where I've been :) ? I've never, ever made a paper bag album yet, and I've wanted to make one for a really long time. I looked online for some instructions and, WOW! Paper bag albums have come a long way baby!!! I found some awesome videos on Youtube by The Paper Trail for mini albums. I loved one of them so much, I set about to make one of my own :). That's where I've been... making paper bag albums!</span> I had so much fun! I used the Everyday Enchantment DSP from the Sale-a-bration brochure. What PRETTY paper! This post has 19 photos so be prepared to be here for a few minutes :)...</div>

I used coordinating card stock and inks to the Everyday Enchantment DSP- Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, and Peach Parfait. I used lots of stuff, including several punches and several dies, so if you have a particular question about any of them, please fire me an email :). Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!<div>

You can use these dies to make people and other critters, like bunny rabbits :). If you liked playing with paper dolls when you were little, you will LOVE playing with the Build a Bear dies :D. I would like you to meet Shamus...</span> </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Several punches were used to create Shamus' little scene. The Scallop Trim Corner and Scallop Trim Border punches made my square. I cut my Whisper White card stock 5.25". After punching the outside edges of my first square, I cut another Whisper White square at 4.25" and then ran it through my Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder, centering it in the Scalloped Trim square. Shamus' beard is made with the largest petal from the Blossom Petals Builder punch. His head is the 1 3/8" circle punch. His little pot of gold is done with the Extra Large Tag punch and the Word Window punch. The legs of his pot were made with the Word Window punch. The pieces of gold are actually the Small Heart punch, layered. His hat is made with 1 3/8" circle punch, the Small Heart punch, and the Word Window punch.</div>

The inside of the card has a 4.75" Whisper White square, also punched with the Scallop Trim punches, matted on Lucky Limeade card stock cut at 5.75" square. This card is going in the mail today heading to my daughter in Texas :). Have a wonderful day today! I hope that the weather where you live is as beautiful as our weather! Spring is here!<br />

Although it was a happy occasion, my daughter Sarah was missing from the party :(. She moved to Texas two years ago when her husband came home from Iraq and they decided to stay. So, they don't get home often and family celebrations and holidays just aren't the same without them there. I made this card this morning to send to her to let her know how much I miss her. I used a SCS color challenge on my card- Pool Party, Poppy Parade, and Daffodil Delight with a touch of ribbon.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisIM_qD1_TuNLh1pknRHPrWCgrdUIQXaJ_da1kCPq5JxsE7Lzh7NAJznVu6QEfewknPVJgrOEqTRMg0tagPIV8LB6FMiRymfDdLxggxymlNKyiC-IqRSOSJdiyiNcXaPOafjU6EGunJXkw/s1600/Balloons-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisIM_qD1_TuNLh1pknRHPrWCgrdUIQXaJ_da1kCPq5JxsE7Lzh7NAJznVu6QEfewknPVJgrOEqTRMg0tagPIV8LB6FMiRymfDdLxggxymlNKyiC-IqRSOSJdiyiNcXaPOafjU6EGunJXkw/s400/Balloons-1.jpg" width="302" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I inked up my embossing folder with Pool Party ink before inserting my card stock into the folder and ran it through my Big Shot. As you can see, this transfers the ink only on the parts of the folder that are not raised. This is not a new technique and has been around for a few years. There are some Christmas cards on my blog that used this technique. Depending on the embossing folder design, you can get some very pretty looks with this technique.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2NVSLqkXYIZw2pi2v1IfOps6uOO8pKbQEOdtyqODLnVa2dxFmCQLFepvaSVRLwnyDxsMRKvPlRaMJnaFyUs3M7js1H-vDWNDgPyyaybvBvE9fhavMh1jjQfZ1XHoT0Hbga_6Nfx1ZE5GO/s1600/Balloons-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2NVSLqkXYIZw2pi2v1IfOps6uOO8pKbQEOdtyqODLnVa2dxFmCQLFepvaSVRLwnyDxsMRKvPlRaMJnaFyUs3M7js1H-vDWNDgPyyaybvBvE9fhavMh1jjQfZ1XHoT0Hbga_6Nfx1ZE5GO/s400/Balloons-2.jpg" width="325" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I kept the inside very simple, but adding a Pool Party mat and a few punched corners adds a little bit more interest to the inside of the card. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On another note, when I woke up this morning, (very groggy to say the least, lol!) my husband said, "you have to get your camera and take pictures!" I looked out the window to see what had him so excited about my camera and I <i>immediately</i> got my camera and went outside in my pajamas. There is nothing like early morning on a farm, <i>nothing</i>. Everything is bathed in golden early morning sunlight as the sun starts its ascent in the sky. This morning though, we were treated to not only the golden sunlight, but the morning mist as well. Here are a couple of my favorite photos from my morning venture. I came into the house with cold wet feet from the dew, but it was worth it :).</div>

So sorry!I have another email account that is linked to my blog. Most of my emails to this blog come to my regular email account, but upon checking my 'other' email account today for the first time in a looooooong while, I discovered some emails with questions about projects I've posted. I have answered all those emails today and my deepest apologies for such a delayed response! I will make it a point to check that other email account at least once a week, but if you send me an email and don't get a response in a couple of days, please post to my blog and let me know that you've sent me an email and I'll get you answered! Again, so, so, so sorry for such a long delay in answering those of you who sent me an email and it went to the other account.<br />

Perfect backdrop for the door :).<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I added some flowers and a little fence, a wreath on the door and a butterfly flitting here and there among the tiny little roses. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We just got back from another long trip, and I had this card ready for posting, just didn't get the post done until now. I'm gonna rest for a day and then I'll be back :). Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!</div>

I have several flower punches, but my longing for Spring color really piqued my interest in creating some flowers :). I recently tried my hand at creating a purple pansy. LOVE purple pansies!!! I think it's the combination of yellow and purple that draws me to purple pansies. Yellow is one of my favorite colors and I love it paired it with blue or purple. Add a little white and it's a really fresh color combo :).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjengYKzkBVPJRdL_0PYRpQVDIhGQOuCJ22E0KYD1rOp5yYNz3-dtKxKM5zfHEz5f6l88FcyhW-67bN6teMOIu3Ot_-xTXaAiOkbHB2JMe5czeqQxXhnLhbP8JLxvZsOcwq_Fco8HlE8XvD/s1600/pansy-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjengYKzkBVPJRdL_0PYRpQVDIhGQOuCJ22E0KYD1rOp5yYNz3-dtKxKM5zfHEz5f6l88FcyhW-67bN6teMOIu3Ot_-xTXaAiOkbHB2JMe5czeqQxXhnLhbP8JLxvZsOcwq_Fco8HlE8XvD/s400/pansy-1.jpg" width="307" /></a></div>
My pansy was created with Whisper White card stock, spritzed with distilled water, and painted with a bit of re-inker and a brush. The petals were dried with my heat tool and then I sponged the edges with Elegant Eggplant. The leaves of the pansy are Old Olive, inked on the edges with Garden Green. The Designer Series Paper is from the retired Georgia Peach, but any soft yellow will work if re-creating this.<br />

I need several thank you cards this week, so I used the sketch for the first one of the day. Here's the sketch...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPuhVGIx4APMmP3M-igfnXwP9ud5vx-TsTJNYILtYFZmH29BazR6Hwn-r6sbWaIM_axQu5KKTjvV_6oyxXNX7CeTTxv3oTW8ghllCjkUJ7YhGld6_37YJe9e5LqasWbD0vW_tuK0s6ZuJB/s1600/Freshly+Made+Sketch+25.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPuhVGIx4APMmP3M-igfnXwP9ud5vx-TsTJNYILtYFZmH29BazR6Hwn-r6sbWaIM_axQu5KKTjvV_6oyxXNX7CeTTxv3oTW8ghllCjkUJ7YhGld6_37YJe9e5LqasWbD0vW_tuK0s6ZuJB/s400/Freshly+Made+Sketch+25.png" width="258" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And here's my card...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8JCzBojtHJz8m2Vd5OyEcL4lvup5Lgwe09q-dTWikFSC71-nRs6k1Bg39vu3jMK7XuynousfTmxl7_grjLA78HXspUvr8OELsc046ejiK-dC01O-xvN4fe1E9aUINpKhidkrL6UJ9I8An/s1600/FM-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8JCzBojtHJz8m2Vd5OyEcL4lvup5Lgwe09q-dTWikFSC71-nRs6k1Bg39vu3jMK7XuynousfTmxl7_grjLA78HXspUvr8OELsc046ejiK-dC01O-xvN4fe1E9aUINpKhidkrL6UJ9I8An/s400/FM-2.jpg" width="295" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also used a color challenge from SCS for this week. The colors to use are Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, and Wild Wasabi, with some heat embossing. My sentiment is heat embossed in pastel pink embossing powder, but it didn't photograph too well :(. If you can't read the sentiment, it says, "heartfelt thanks." I added a little Bashful Blue to ink up the clouds and a tiny Marina Mist butterfly. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglqFcW0p6ShrWkoKccum4rFmoCT9WpUQtH-QaklrQK-no2NtVY8gdtHEnFUSpd94q4GVFV-CUeR3K9IFQTwot9zKftXUV5XQa0-15bzE7j3G7hQt0FOakSvo-HBZSpwK2hRKu6ycqvYo72/s1600/FM-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglqFcW0p6ShrWkoKccum4rFmoCT9WpUQtH-QaklrQK-no2NtVY8gdtHEnFUSpd94q4GVFV-CUeR3K9IFQTwot9zKftXUV5XQa0-15bzE7j3G7hQt0FOakSvo-HBZSpwK2hRKu6ycqvYo72/s400/FM-3.jpg" width="312" /></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the inside, I matted Very Vanilla on Wild Wasabi and added another little Marina Mist butterfly. Not too fancy, but plenty of room for writing my thank you note :). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We have a little down time between Meets for a while, so I'm hoping to spend a bit more time in my stamping room. I have some new stamp sets that I haven't even inked yet and a book full of sketches from my favorite sketch blogs, so I have plenty to keep me busy! Have a wonderful day today and thanks for stopping by!!</div>

I've posted before how much I LOVE sketches... there is nothing like a great sketch to get your creativity flowing :). I was surfing some blogs early, early, this morning and found a new sketch blog (to me, anyway). I loved the sketch they posted for this week and I immediately put together the card below in my head when I saw the sketch. Took me less than ten minutes to make this card- love that! Back to the blog I found... it's <a href="http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/">Freshly Made Sketches</a>. I made this rose a few days ago, but I just wasn't happy with anything I did with it, soooo, when I saw the sketch, it took me seconds to visualize the card below :D. After I made the rose, I had the song, "My Wild Irish Rose," stuck in my head for hours, so what else was I gonna do with it, other than make a St. Patrick's Day card with it? Not the traditional colors for St. Patrick's Day, but hey, I'm Irish, I can get away with it don't ya' think? ;-)</div>

Inside the card is a lovely Irish Blessing matted on Daffodil Yellow card stock. I added another little four leaf clover for a bit of extra luck ;-) in the lower right corner.<br />

I guess it will take me a bit to get used to posting to my blog again :). I made another Thank You card for my daughter's coach, Mark, to let him know how much WE appreciated his calls to our daughter while we were at the Meet in Maryland. Guy cards are just not my thing... I'm not very good at masculine themes, but it's the thought that counts, right? So here's the card that I made for Mark from my husband and I :)....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiK3J5KSzguNZcexdP6WHLxM755fZbsrCgAFXWZO5BEdDTh5srtyZf2k9_e7C3ycCb4fkDmEon30WjEJXIdNeqEhtslni39BvVLwmgMZSW2yPxd5YUzyZIFiek_0R5B84-8OXTen2sSO8D/s1600/001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="311" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiK3J5KSzguNZcexdP6WHLxM755fZbsrCgAFXWZO5BEdDTh5srtyZf2k9_e7C3ycCb4fkDmEon30WjEJXIdNeqEhtslni39BvVLwmgMZSW2yPxd5YUzyZIFiek_0R5B84-8OXTen2sSO8D/s400/001.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used one of the new sets in the Occasions mini, 'Just My Type', and I used retired Stampin' Up! paper. I also used retired ribbon. I made a gift card holder for the gift card that we got for Mark. Mark's favorite color is red and I totally should have made the card in red too, but I made the two cards on different days so it didn't even cross my mind until after the fact. Both cards are really simplistic, but both were filled with so much gratitude and appreciation for Mark, as our daughter's coach and as a person that we are blessed to count among our friends.</div>

I made a thank you card yesterday for my daughter's main coach, Mark. Mark is the coach who spends the most time with her. He gives her three lessons a week, plus works with her during regular practice hours. He is not only a great coach, but he has become a great friend as well. Mark was not able to go to the Maryland Meet, so this was the first Meet our daughter has ever had to compete in without him. She had two of her four coaches there, but Mark is the coach that she is closest to. It was pretty scary for her to go to a Meet without Mark! Mark gave her a great encouraging talk before we left, but he really went above and beyond the call of duty once we got to the Meet. He got up earlier than east coast time (we live in a different time zone) to call her on her cell phone at 5:30 a.m. ET to encourage her and give her some last minute coaching advice. They talked for about ten minutes. Remember that she was really sick? She told Mark that she was feeling bad that first phone call. As mentioned in my post yesterday, she did her first event beautifully and won first place. She called Mark to let him know that she got first and he said, "See, you did it"! I posted yesterday that she got sicker as the morning wore on and she had to scratch the rest of her events for this Meet. But Mark called us three times on Meet Day One to check on her to see how she was feeling. We didn't know how she would feel on Meet Day Two- if she would be able to compete or not. So Mark called again at 5:30 a.m. ET on Meet Day Two to check up on her and to encourage her if she was competing. He called to check on her again later that day because I told him she was too sick to compete still. It turns out, that several of our club's skaters had the same thing that our daughter came down with at the Meet while we were gone! We are going to pick up a gift card for Mark today as a little blessing for him because he really blessed us by going beyond normal coaching duties, but in the meantime, here's the card I made for him :)...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I used some Delta Ceramcoat white paint to dobber the clouds onto Bashful Blue card stock. When the clouds were dry I added some Dazzling Details for a little bit of sparkle.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoL-OE6bI8LqxECEXh9XxWYch0dpMKxvdAqkg2mXIvBMaPifADIt3KmM2vsAdgBWvRbbY3NufhCgQjtpeitLiIgfqlJ048MMoAz0POuq8qHWnUp-n2sK6gvzkbJ7X9HJytUjIejWaKSS2p/s1600/TY-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoL-OE6bI8LqxECEXh9XxWYch0dpMKxvdAqkg2mXIvBMaPifADIt3KmM2vsAdgBWvRbbY3NufhCgQjtpeitLiIgfqlJ048MMoAz0POuq8qHWnUp-n2sK6gvzkbJ7X9HJytUjIejWaKSS2p/s400/TY-2.jpg" width="283" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made three faux brads for the card front in Daffodil Yellow. It's easy to make faux brads! Just punch out as many circles as you need with a 1/4" circle punch, place them on some thick fun foam, and with a soft circular motion, press the end of a stylus into the center and work your way out to the edges until your circle has a slight cup shape. Then add a glue dot to the center and place it where you need it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGiWYHQ3MkD3WEWTfOVwG7C-bQ4tnT34BkFR9Tl0Nz3nR7SSu2DpEebjMX5afVI4Qr0C9xHHjWq-trmtxEcqbFh4DVNgt5Wg3xQTd_c2SgwVGunt3ZwgkGlv_I1UF0HmZAgPctdm6xq0lz/s1600/TY+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGiWYHQ3MkD3WEWTfOVwG7C-bQ4tnT34BkFR9Tl0Nz3nR7SSu2DpEebjMX5afVI4Qr0C9xHHjWq-trmtxEcqbFh4DVNgt5Wg3xQTd_c2SgwVGunt3ZwgkGlv_I1UF0HmZAgPctdm6xq0lz/s400/TY+3.jpg" width="306" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I left the inside of the card blank so my daughter could write her own thank you note to Mark :). I stamped the clouds and added another kite to the lower right corner. I like to add a little something to the inside of my cards just to give them that little bit of extra punch. Have a GREAT day!</div>

We left for Maryland a few days ago so our daughter could compete on the east coast. She was perfectly fine on the way there and pretty much at the official practice on Friday evening. We were sitting near the door that was open so they could bring in boxes of food to their snack bar and she started getting cold. She put on her National's jacket and we put a blanket over her. We ALWAYS have blankets with us because you never know how cold it will be at a rink! After her practice was over, we went to dinner and back to the hotel to sleep. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We have to get up at 3:00 a.m. on Meet days to get ready and skaters have to be ON the floor at 5:00 a.m. sharp. During the night she developed a fever (I'm guessing around 102) and a sore throat. She wanted to compete anyway since we had driven so far and since this Meet was kind of a big deal and because she works hard at training. By the time we had rollers in her hair she was feeling sick to her stomach and the vomiting began :(. She was chilling too, but she was still determined to compete. So we took her to the rink with the stipulation that if she didn't feel better we would come back to the hotel. We got to the rink and she did the morning warm up. The morning warm up starts between 5:00 a.m. and 5:15 a.m., depending on the rink. This gives all the skaters time to work on the official warm up and judging circles. This is important for them to get a feel for the floor because every floor has its own little nuances. She made it through the morning warm up. We covered her up with blankets while we waited for her first event to come up. By this time she is feeling really achy. Her first event came up at 6:00 a.m. All the skaters in the event get to roll around the judging circles for a few minutes. Their coaches watch them and make corrections as needed. When the first warm up time is up all the skaters in that event get on line and wait their turn. Three skaters are sent to the warm up circles at a time while the others in line wait. The warm up circles give the coaches another opportunity to correct anything that needs to be corrected with the skater. Once the skater leaves the warm up circles, the coaches aren't allowed to talk to them until they come off the judging circles. Her warm up looked good. She was in the second set of three skaters to warm up, and the second skater from that warm up to go to the judging circles. She looked good on the judging circles. After she was done with her first event, she went out to the van to lay down, covered with four blankets, van locked up tight, so she could rest. Her second event wasn't until 9:10 a.m. so there was plenty of time for her to rest. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
About a half hour later, the first, second, and third place winners were announced for her first event and our daughter had won first place :). I went out to the van to let her know. She thought she did terrible because she felt so sick and she didn't expect to place. She did tell me later that even though she was so sick that she did most of the circles on auto pilot. This is why so much practice pays off! The skaters make it look easy to do figures, but there is a LOT to think about. They have to think about the edge they are on, keeping the line of the circle between the center of the right and left side of their wheels, making sure they maintain correct body and foot position, keeping the foot in the air stationary, passing the leg at the right time after they change feet for the next edge onto the next circle, the speed they are traveling around the circles, and several other things. She was happy that she got first place after she thought she didn't do so great on her figures (but she did- it just didn't <i>feel</i> like it to her) and she came back into the rink to wait for her next event. </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Next event up. She did the first warm up, got on line to wait for her turn on the warm up circles. She was toward the end on this line though, almost last. I zoomed in on her with my video camera so I could see her face, since she was on the far side of the floor. I could tell she was really feeling bad. Five minutes or so later, my husband and I watched our daughter skate to her coaches and she was wobbly as she got to them. Coach Lisa took her hands as she talked to them and then Coach John and Lisa helped her over to the wall and sat her down on the floor. When she got to them she told them she was going pass out, hence, sitting her against the wall. She sat on the floor for a minute and then down she went. She was laying on the floor! Coach John was really worried about her and he told her he was scratching her event. Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to not go running out on that floor to my daughter?!! When she was finally able to get up she skated straight to the bathroom because her stomach was upset again. I was in there with her and Lisa brought her some 7Up to help calm her stomach. Our daughter was hoping that a few minutes in the bathroom would ease her stomach and the light headed feeling. Lisa came in and asked her if she needed to scratch. With lots of tears, she said "yes, I need to scratch" :'(. It's demanding on the body of a skater under normal circumstances to do what they do. Yet, our daughter, who was sicker than she let us know, went out there and gave it everything she had to do her second event. Her body just didn't want to cooperate with her. We packed her up and took her back to the hotel, called our Dr. back home and told him what was going on with her. He suspected that she had strep throat (his suspicion proved correct) and he called in a prescription for her where we were at for penicillin. She had to scratch the rest of her events for this Meet. She had fever that spiked between 100 when it was low, but mostly stayed between 101 - 101.7 for two nights and two days. She stayed in the hotel bed for those two days. She was too achy and sick to move. We had another adult member of the skate team who traveled with us, so my husband made sure she got to the rink to do her events and back to the hotel for her two days of events, while I stayed with our daughter. We decided to drive through on the trip home, the three of us adults taking turns doing the driving. Our daughter slept for 14 hours straight, waking up only long enough to take her medicine during the trip home. Her fever finally broke during that 14 hours of sleep. The last leg of the trip she was awake for, but she had lost her voice. I am happy to report that even though she still has a cough, she is not achy, not sick to her stomach anymore, and she is on the mend. We are so proud of our daughter for her tenacity in going out there and competing in the face of being so sick. She is one tough little skater girl.</div>

Yesterday afternoon my order from Stampin' Up! arrived, so after a LOT of sleep yesterday, I plan to go back to my scrap room and play with some new toys :D. See you soon!</div>

I needed a little break from stamping to focus on some other things. I've been busy with my daughter and her skating, among other things. She went to her first Meet this month since Nationals five months ago and the Meet season is now underway! For not competing for five months, she did well at the first Meet of 2012. She got three 1st place medals, a 2nd place, and a 3rd place out of six events. She would have gotten 2nd place in her first event, but unfortunately, she dropped her foot and that is a big deduction in points. It happens though, to every skater. Actually, there were a lot of dropped foots among skaters that day! It must have been contagious! Given the fact that she would have gotten 2nd place without the dropped foot and the fact that she had<i><u> just</u></i> learned those particular figures (hard figures requiring hard turns) a month ago... that's pretty darn impressive! I think she was happy with how she did :)<br />
<br />
Among the other things I've been doing, I've been concentrating on my photography more. My goal is to become a professional photographer, so I've been reading lots of books and studying. My sweet husband got me a studio set up complete with lights, backdrop stand, and several backdrops for Christmas so that I don't have to rely on outdoor lighting to take photos. It's really nice to have access to perfect light whenever you need it!<br />
<br />
My lap top hard drive crashed big time and it was <b><i>just</i></b> a year old. It crashed so badly there was no way to recover the hard drive. I don't even want to tell you how much stuff I lost with that crash :(. I lost really great photos of my daughter and our little granddaughter. I was just sick over all that I lost. I normally back up my photos to an external hard drive, but these didn't get backed up right away. LESSON LEARNED! Now when I download photos to my lap top I back them up immediately. Fortunately, the best of the photos that I lost of my daughter are on a memory card in a digital photo frame that my daughter gave her grandpa for Christmas, so I'll be able to retrieve those :).<br />
<br />
My daughter, husband, and I started seeing a strength trainer three weeks ago. My husband and I need to get into shape :), and our daughter will benefit in her skating. We are also working on eating healthier :).<br />
<br />
We've just been really busy with life otherwise :). We have a pretty big Meet soon and after that Meet, I'm hoping to get back to blogging again. My thoughts are starting to drift back toward stamping and scrapping. I placed my first demo order since December this afternoon, so I'll have some new stuff to play with in a few days!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194937347160775114.post-91855257295120453942011-12-05T00:01:00.001-06:002011-12-05T00:01:02.067-06:00Christmas Bird<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I was going over some sketches that I keep in my sketch book and found this one. I liked the layout of it and thought it was the perfect sketch for combining different embossing folders. On this card I used the new Snow Burst folder and Northern Flurry. On the upper left corner I embossed just a couple of snowflakes from Northern Flurry and then on the lower right side, I used Snow Burst. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZrd5fxE1JdHQLnHA31NVmn4WFYBz34tU6N2DCfUVW2kxH4h45SDiZvyGTdF-BXQzSYGO-8AFuuatmaz1FxPybb_HpPXI79r_CvW9K_svtH8Qsj2oRazs-aKZ2iERrzYYw8-wvBGyvaqRZ/s1600/202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZrd5fxE1JdHQLnHA31NVmn4WFYBz34tU6N2DCfUVW2kxH4h45SDiZvyGTdF-BXQzSYGO-8AFuuatmaz1FxPybb_HpPXI79r_CvW9K_svtH8Qsj2oRazs-aKZ2iERrzYYw8-wvBGyvaqRZ/s400/202.jpg" width="303" /></a></div> I made a little pine cone to tuck under my paper bow, along with some pine greenery. The paper bow is made from a piece of Frostwood Lodge DSP. LOVE that Designer Series Paper!!!! I added some Dazzling Details for the glittery snow on the pine branches and the pine cone.<br />

Just punch out a circle and a blossom, layer, and punch the button holes. I use a clear button that I die cut from my Buttons #5 Sizzlet. I lay my button hole template on my circle or flower, center it, mark the holes and punch with a 1/16" circle punch.<br />

I punched a 1/2" circle and then centered it in my 3/4" Circle punch and punched. I punched a whole 3/4" circle and inked up the inside edges of the 1/2" circle. Adhered the two circles together and inked around the edges of the button again with Marina Mist. The Cherry Cobbler button is die cut from Buttons #5.<br />

I was up all night :(. Just one of those nights when you can't sleep. I'm going to have to come back later and add the stamp set I used. I have it written down on a piece of paper, but the paper is at home (sigh). I used Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Whisper White, and retired Designer Series Paper. I often like to design my cards first in My Digital Studio... A) there is no waste of real paper, B) it's easy to remove or add elements, C) you can see how it will look before you ever cut into any paper. For my card below I used the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Digital Paper (we can print out as much as we want on our printers) and the Christmas Lodge digital stamp set. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguZE1aHPL_zcdF8NtTK4srFmmKNoWqFrG0FnwHZBu83_-OM07oWygEh22ncIeguKWmRkMXfext3jIsFSK99PVMChwbAuiR9m5NWDkG3tBvPi9fO8XR0_lmsOfcMoni6NVE9qPYFrQRY17e/s1600/Untitled-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="306" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguZE1aHPL_zcdF8NtTK4srFmmKNoWqFrG0FnwHZBu83_-OM07oWygEh22ncIeguKWmRkMXfext3jIsFSK99PVMChwbAuiR9m5NWDkG3tBvPi9fO8XR0_lmsOfcMoni6NVE9qPYFrQRY17e/s400/Untitled-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I love the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper- the real paper, that is! I also love it in digital format and am soooooo happy that when it retires from the mini, I can still have as much as I need by printing it out :D.<br />
<br />
I'll be back later after I get some pictures!<br />

I've been busy decorating the house for Christmas, thus my absence, but I stopped today to make a Christmas card. I used <i>Come to Bethlehem</i>- love this set! I stamped my background first with <i>En Francais</i> in Crumb Cake, stamped off once. The edges of my image are aged with Soft Suede and a sponge dauber. I ink up my dauber first and then stamp off on a scrap of paper before applying to my image. It gives it a softer look.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyask8XPKlV1mAsPDxx0b6fAVDCDlSFlCGU7FD28iQwHjz_7fgb3qBeZKnIOSsptCYPV2ai1WW4vxeuDX0Uq2M1MMuAh3TYgG_9X-6ScntcMR9-MIsLlJEJ7YJSGWkrVD6S3QhqEQaIHm2/s1600/036.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="391" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyask8XPKlV1mAsPDxx0b6fAVDCDlSFlCGU7FD28iQwHjz_7fgb3qBeZKnIOSsptCYPV2ai1WW4vxeuDX0Uq2M1MMuAh3TYgG_9X-6ScntcMR9-MIsLlJEJ7YJSGWkrVD6S3QhqEQaIHm2/s400/036.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> My poinsettia is done with the Five Petal punch, punched twice, petals curled with a chop stick, then layered. The center of my poinsettia is one of the flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch. Sponged the outer edges with Cajun Craze and then lined it up in the Snow Burst embossing folder.<br />
